Weis(s) (Brabander)
Johann Georg Weiss, a single farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 13 August 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 130.
The widow of Johann Georg Weiss from Seelmann and their children are recorded on the 1798 census of Preuss in Household No. Ps07.
This is presumed to be the same Johann Georg Weiss because there are a number of families who more back and forth between Brabander and Seelmann.
The 1767 census records that Johann Georg Weiss came from the German village of Fuchsstadt in the Würzburg region.
Weber (Brabander)
There are two Weber families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard the galliot Der Jan under the command of Skipper Markus Dragun. They travelled together from St. Petersburg to Saratov and both settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research:
(1) Peter Weber, a blacksmith, his wife Anna Elisabeth, and children (Maria, age 12; Katharina, age 10 Anna, age 7; Peter, age 4) arrived in Oranienbaum.
Wächter (Brabander)*
Joseph Wächter, his wife Elisabeth, and son Adam (age 4, died en route) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Elisabeth Wächter and her unnamed husband (a farmer) settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 19 August 1767. She is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 112 along with a note that the unnamed husband died 20 October 1767.
The 1767 census records that Elisabeth Wächter came from the German village of Appelbrun [?] in the region of Hanau.
Stressler
Johannes Stressler and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Brabander in Household No. Bn29.
Stark (Brabander)
Johannes Stark, a single farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 26 June 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 132.
The 1767 census records that Johannes Stark came from the German region of Bamberg.
Stahl (Brabander-2)*
Simon Stahl, a weaver, his wife Anna, and children (Maria, age 18; Barbara, age 16½; Johann, age 15) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Wachsamkeit under the command of Skipper Jacob Heinrich Sager.
Simon Stahl, his wife Anna Maria, and children (Barbara, age 18; Adam, age 16) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Sonntag
Ernst Sonntag (age 18) and his siblings (Magdalena, age 12; Mattias, age 8) are recorded on the 1767 census of Brabander in Household No. 95 along with their stepfather Mattias Sturm. They had settled there on 19 August 1767.
The 1767 census does not record from where the Sonntag children came.
Schmidt (Brabander-6)*
Christoph Schmidt, weaver (Weber), and his wife Maria Katharina settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 11 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 94.
The 1767 census records that Christoph Schmidt came from the German village of Oberdiebach in the Kurmainz region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schmidt family among the Volga German colonies.
