Lutz (Pfeifer)

Simon Lutz, a farmer, his wife, and his mother-in-law arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Kronstadt under the command of Lieutenant Samuel Gibbs.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Pfeifer on 15 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 47.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list record that Simon Lutz came from the German region of Würzburg.

Lutzi

Konrad Lutzi, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a Russian packet-boat named Svyatoi Pavel (St. Paul) under the command of the Lieutenant Fyedor Sornev.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Dietel on 1 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 42.

The 1767 census records that Konrad Lutzi came from the German village of Zenberg in the Darmstadt area.

Litseu*

Christian Litseu, a locksmith (Schlosser), and his wife settled in the Volga German colony of Merkel on 28 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 36.

The 1767 census records that Christian Litseu came from the German village of Gifhorn in the district of Hannover.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Lipp (Grimm)

Johannes Lipp, a single craftsman (Handwerker), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard the pink Lev under the command of Lieutenant Fyodor Fyodorov.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Grimm and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 3.

Johann Lipp and his family are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 97 along with orphan Ludwig Stiehl. The 1775 census does not record a relationship between the Lipp and Stiehl families.

In 1787, Georg Jakob Lipp moved from Grimm to Meinhard.

Lindner (Pfeifer)*

Joseph Lindner, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Kronstadt under the command of Lieutenant Samuel Gibbs.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Pfeifer on 15 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 44.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Joseph Lindner came from the German region of Fulda.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Lind (Dönhof)

Wilhelm Lind, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Der Junge Mathias under the command of Skipper David Wollert.

Wilhelm died after they arrived in Russia.  His widow, Anna Elisabeth, remarried to Johannes Strauch. [See Strauch Family.]

Lich

Johannes Lich, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 1.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Lich came from the German village of Saagemünd. His daughter's 1767 census entry (Household No.22) further records that Saagemünd is in the region of Lothringen.

Leschhorn*

Christian Leschhorn, a tailor, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 May 1766 aboard the galliot Anna Catharina under the command of Skipper Daniel Geier.

Christian died after arriving in Russia and his widow Elisabeth remarried to Johann Georg Bäcker. They settled in the Volga German colony of Kaneau on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 53 with the surviving Leschhorn daughter, Ursula.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Christian Leschhorn came from the German region of Rusbach.
