Rudolph (Leichtling)

There are several Rudolph families associated with the colony of Leichtling. The first is believed to be the father of the remainder, but their exact relationships to one another need further research.

They arrived together from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Perle under the command of Skipper Thomson.

(1) Johann Rudolph, a farmer, his wife Anna, and daughters (Barbara, age 25; Eva, age 9; Katharina, age 5) arrived in Oranienbaum.

Rudel (Leitsinger)

Johannes Rudel, son of Pancratius Rudel, married on 5 October 1739 in St. Johannes der Täufer Catholic Church in Ludwag to Agnes Strohmer, daughter of Hanns Strohmer.

The baptisms of the children born to Johannes Rudel & Agnes Strohmer are recorded in the parish register of St. Johannes der Täufer Catholic Church in Ludwag: (1) Johann Kaspar, baptized 2 February 1744; (2) Helena, baptized 17 November 1746; (3) Johannes Kaspar, baptized 13 November 1747; (4) Catharina, baptized 28 September 1750; and (5) Johannes, baptized 7 February 1752.

Rückinger

Jakob Rückinger and his family, including step-daughter Theresia, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 31 May 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Leitsinger on 12 May 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 3.

The 1767 census records that Jakob Rückinger came from the German village of Kronberg in the Kurmainz region.

Rau(h) (Leitsinger)

There are 2 Rau families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766. They are also recorded traveling together from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767. Both settled in the Volga German colony of Leitsinger, but their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Johannes Rauh, son of Georg & Barbara Rau, was born 18 June 1735 in Sassanfahrt.

Raab (Leitsinger)*

Johann Raab, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766.

Johan Raab and his wife Elisabeth are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Leitsinger on 19 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 39.

The 1767 census records that Johann Raab came from the German village of Kersbach in the Bamberg district.

Pachtrech*

Johannes Pachtrech, a baker (Bäcker), and his wife Josephina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 30 May 1766 aboard the pink Lopamink under the command of Lieutenant Kryukov.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Leitsinger on 12 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 28.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Pachtrech came from Vienna, Austria.

There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this family so the surname does not continue among the Volga German colonies.
