Birkner*

Johann Georg Birkner, his wife Maria, and daughter Magdalena (age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 September 1766.

Johann Geor. Birckner [sic], his wife Maria, and daughter Magdalena (age 3) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Johann Georg Birkner, a miller (Müller), his wife Maria, and daughter Maria (age 4) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Paulskaya (No. 110) along with a note that they relocated to the Volga German colony of Wittmann in 1768.

Baum (Wittmann)

Valentin Baum, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Valentin Baum and his wife Anna Margaretha are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Widower Valentin Baum, a farmer, is recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Paulskaya (No. 129) along with a note that he relocated to the Volga German colony of Wittmann in 1768.

Lehmann (Warenburg)

Widower Martin Lehmann, a weaver, and his son Christoph Heinrich (age 20) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard the galliot Der Jan with the Skipper Markus Dragun.

Son Heinrich Lehmann is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Son [Christian] Heinrich Lehmann, a weaver, settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 152 along with his new wife Anna Margaretha (age 23).

Brenner (Seelmann)

Veit [Friedrich] Brenner, a farmer, his wife Maria, and daughter Barbara (age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Der Jäger under the command of Skipper Gabriel Will.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Seelmann on 15 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 3.

Veit Brenner and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Seelmann in Household No. Sm15.

Rau (Näb)*

There are two Rau families that arrived together in Oranienbaum and are recorded together traveling from St. Petersburg to Saratov. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Johann Rau, a weaver, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Langweiler*

Johan Hinr. Langweiter [sic], a farmer from the area of Darmstadt, & Anna Elisab. Hoffgesang from the area of Darmstadt were married on 3 June 1766 in a house in Lübeck. The marriage is recorded in the parish register of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church in Lübeck.

Johann [Heinrich] Langweiler, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Ries (Müller)*

Johann Ries, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Barbara [Katharina], age 14; Johann, age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the barque named Fortitudo under the command of Skipper John Scott.

Johannes Riess [sic] and his children (Barbara Catrina, age 14; Johannes, age 7) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that father Johannes Riess died en route.

Schneider (Grimm / Müller / Stephan)

There are three Schneider families from the German village of Zell (today in Vogelsbergkreis) that migrated to the Volga German colonies. They all arrived in Oranienbaum together on the same ship, but their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Johann Georg Schneider, son of Johann Heinrich & Maria Elisabetha Schneider, was baptized in Zell on 2 November 1732.
