Brahm (Grimm)

Dietrich Brahm, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard the pink Lev under the command of Lieutenant Fyodor Fyodorov.

Dietrich Brahm, a single farmer, is recorded on the 1767 census of Grimm in Household No. 86.

Dietrich Brahm, his wife Anna Maria [Schröder], and son Johann Heinrich (age 1½) are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 158.

Dietrich Brahm and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Grimm in Household No. Gm170.

Engel (Grimm)

Franz Tobias Engel, an administrator (Verwalter), and his wife Eva Katharina Charlotte settled in the Volga German colony of Grimm and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 25.

They are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 52.

The 1767 census records that Franz Tobias Engel came from the German region of Kurland.

Helm (Grimm / Rosenheim)

Pastor Ludwig Helm was one of a handful of pastors who immigrated from Germany to Russia during the initial migration period (1764-1767).

He had been born in the village of Teschow in the Mecklenburg region. He studied theology in Rostock and was orgained in 1738. He married Anna Sophia, a citizen of Bünsow although originally from Biendorf.

He served the parishes of Biendorf (1738-1751) and Mecklenburg (1751-1766) before joining the migration to Russia.

Bengel (Dreispitz)*

Kaspar [Se]bastian Bengel (age 14) and his sister Elisabeth (age 9) are recorded on the 1767 census of Dreispitz in Household No 28 along with their mother and stepfather Johann Kaspar Hessel. They settled in the Volga German colony of Dreispitz on 20 July 1767.

Sebastian Bengel is recorded on the 1798 census of Dreispitz in Household No. Dr11.

There do not appear to be surviving male descendant lines of this Bengel family among the Volga German colonies.

Meinrath*

Nikolaus Meinrath, his wife Maria, and sons (Mathias, age 15; Johann, age 10) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Hans Karholm.

Nicolaus Meinrath, his wife Maria, and sons (Mathias, age 16; Johann, age 10¼) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that father Nicolaus died en route.

In 1793, Jakob Meinrad moved from Wittmann to Ober-Monjou.

In 1822, Christian Meinrath was exiled from Ober-Monjou.

Zilg (Warenburg)

Widower Peter Zilg, a farmer, and his son Johann Gottfried (age 10) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Vergelte Weintraube under the command of Skipper Anderson.

Orphan Gottlieb Zilg settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 177.

In 1788, Gottfried Zilg moved from Warenburg to Dinkel.

Zoller

Johann Adam Zoller, a farmer, his wife Eva Christina Margaretha, and children (Philipp Jakob, age 14; Sophia, age 4) are recorded on the 1767 census of Schwed in Household No. 18. They had settled there on 1 July 1766.

The 1767 census records that Johann Adam Zoller came from the German region of Baden-Durlach.
