Lotz / Lutz (Grimm)

Anna Lutz, widow of Johannes Lutz, and her children (Johann [David], age 16; Johannes, age 12; Georg, age 8; Heinrich, age 5) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the barque named Fortitudo under the command of Skipper John Scott.

The surviving children are recorded on the 1767 census of Grimm in Households No. 35 and 89.

The 1775 census of Grimm records the Lutz sons in Households No. 94 and No. 7 of the appendix.

David Lutz and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Grimm in Household No. Gm172.

Koch (Grimm)

Georg Koch, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Julianna, and son Johann Adam (age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Grimm in Household No. 73.

They are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 147.

The 1767 census records that Georg Koch came from the German region of Darmstadt.

Bertel*

Christian Bartel [sic], a mechanic, and his wife Anna Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 June 1766 aboard the galliot named Die Fortuna under the command of Skipper Peter Stahl.

Christian Pertel [sic], his new wife Katharina Dorothea, and [step-]daughter Christina Sophia [surname not recorded] are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 29.

Faas

Johann Faas (age 14) is recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 8 along with his mother and stepfather Daniel Tanz. His brother Georg is assumed to be recorded in Household No. 22.

Johann Andreas Faas and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Grimm along with a note that they had moved to the daughter colony of Erlenbach in 1852.

Grimm (Grimm)

Gottfried Grimm and his family are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 1 along with his stepson Johann Georg Kanzler. It is believed that Gottfried's wife is Anna Katharina Kanzler, the widow of Solomon Kanzler from Kolb.

In 1787, Christian Grimm left Grimm.

Marquardt (Grimm)*

Friedrich Marquardt, a craftsman (Handwerker), married Maria Elisabeth, widow of Jakob Hessenbeie. They are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 34 along with stepson Jakob Hessenbeie (age 7).

The Marquardts are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household #112.

The 1767 census does not record from where Friedrich Marquardt came.

There are no known male descendants of this Marquardt family that continue among the Volga German colonies.

Wiltendorf

Konrad Helfrich Wiltendorf (age 9) is recorded on the 1767 census of Grimm in Household No. 62 along with his mother Anna Eva and stepfather Wilhelm Röder.

They are recorded there on the 1775 census in Household No. 137.

The 1767 census does not record from where Konrad Wiltendorf came.

Sutter*

Gottlieb Sutter (age 13), orphaned son of the deceased Martin Sutter, is recorded on the 1767 census of Grimm in Household No. 64 along with the Johann Göbel family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Sutter and Göbel families.

Gottlieb Sutter (age 20) is recorded on an appendix to the 1775 census of Grimm (No. 6).

The 1767 census does not record from where Gottlieb Sutter came.

This surname does not appear to continue beyond 1775 among the Volga German colonies.

Strecker (Grimm-2)*

Anna Margaretha Strecker (age 18), orphaned daughter of the deceased Wilhelm Strecker, is recorded on the 1767 census of Grimm in Household No. 56 along with the Johann Georg Abig family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Strecker & Abig families.

The 1767 census does not record from where Anna Margaretha Strecker came.

There are no known surviving male descendants of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Schneider (Grimm)

Johann Adam Schneider, a farmer, his wife Anna Klara, and children (Gertruda, age 16; Georg Heinrich, age 8; Sibilla, age 5; Andreas, age 1½ [sic]) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Johannes under the command of Skipper Stahl.
