Funk (Dönhof)

Matthias Funk, a farmer, and his wife Sophia settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 18 June 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 93 along with the orphan sons of Christian Müller (Johannes, age 15; Philipp, age 13). The census does not record a relationship between the Funk and Müller families.

The 1767 census records that Matthias Funk came from the German village of Runkel in the Württemberg region.

Müller (Dönhof-2)

The orphaned sons of Christian Müller (Johannes, age 15; Philipp, age 13) are recorded on the 1767 census of Dönhof in Household No. 93 along with the Mattias Funk family. They had settled in the colony of Dönhof on 18 June 1767. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Funk and Müller families.

The 1767 census records that the Müller boys came from the German village of Runkel in the Württemberg region.

Nuss (Dönhof)*

Kaspar Nuss, a farmer, and his wife Margaretha Kelker settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 18 June 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 99 along with Margaretha's brother (Balthasar, age 18).

The 1767 census records that Kaspar Nuss came from the German region of Isenburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Nuss family among the Volga German colonies.

Beidnitz (Enders)

Andreas Beidnitz, his wife Anna Maria, and sons Hans Christian, Hans Peter, and another Hans Peter settled in the Volga German colony of Enders.

Andreas died and his widow Anna Maria remarried to Georg Stenaben. They are recorded on the 1767 census of Enders in Household No. 29 along with the two sons named Hans Peter. Oldest son Hans Christian is recorded in Household No. 30.

The widow and children of Christian Beidnitz are recorded on the 1798 census of Enders in Household No. En32.

Behrens (Enders)

Dietrich Behrens, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Maria Margaretha, and daughter Katharina (age 4) are recorded on the 1767 census of Enders in Household No. 4. They had settled there on 27 March 1765.

Before 1850, August Behrens and his family relocated to the daughter colony of Wiesenfeld.

Christian Behrens from Enders and his family are recorded on the 1862 census of Gnadendorf.

Stang (Ernestinendorf / Yagodnaya Polyana)

There are two Stang families that immigrated to the Volga German colonies. Both of them came from the German village of Wallernhausen near Büdingen. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Weigand Stang and his wife Anna had a total of six children in Wallernhausen including: (1) Friderica Elisabetha, born 24 March 1742, baptized 26 March 1742; and (2) Johann Heinrich, baptized 6 March 1745.

Seifert (Ernestinendorf)

Hermann Seifert, a teacher (Lehrer), his wife Kunigunda, and children (Johann Wilhelm, age 14; Elisabeth, age 3-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Ernestinendorf in Household No. 2. They had settled there on 3 August 1767.

In 1784, Jakob Seifert and his family moved from Ernestinendorf to Bettinger.

The 1767 census records that Hermann Seibert [sic] came from the German region of Hamburg.

Rohn (Basel)*

Hieronymus Rohn, his wife Anna, and daughters (Katharina, age 10½; Anna, age 8) are recorded on the 1767 census of Ernestinendorf in Household No. 42 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Basel. They had settled in Ernestinendorf on 3 August 1767. The movement tables that accompany the 1798 census of Ernestinendorf record that, in 1769, Hieronymus Rohn and his family moved from Ernestinendorf to Basel.

His daughter Anna Margaretha Rohn from Basel is recorded on the 1798 census of Zürich in Household No. Zr20.
