Hartwig (Straub)

Philipp Hartwig, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Philipp, age 15; Elisabeth, age 12; Johann, age 9; Anna, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard the ship named Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Straub on 12 July 1767. Philipp Hartwig, a farmer, his wife Anna Elisabeth, and children (Johann Philipp, age 16; Johannes, age 10; Anna Dorothea, age 3-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Straub in Household No. 34.

Hartmann (Sewald)*

Johann Georg Hartmann & Anna Margaretha Strecker were married on 20 May 1766 in Roßlau.

Georg Hartmann, a farmer, his wife Anna Margaretha, and [step-]children [surname Marié] (Andreas, age 18; Margaretha, age 10; Johann, age 7; Eva, age 6; Eva Katharina, age 3] arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig Mercurius under the command of Skipper Christian Heinrich Abelßen.

Hartmann (Seelmann-1)*

Peter Hartmann, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Ludwig, age 17; Johann Peter, age 15; Katharina, age 12; Elisabeth, age 10; Anna, age 4; Johann, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Der Jäger under the command of Skipper Gabriel Will.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Seelmann on 15 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 12.

Hartmann (Rothammel)

Johannes Hartmann, a farmer, his wife Anna, and sons (Johann[es], age 6; Wilhelm, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Johann Grapp.

Johann[es] Hartmann, a carpenter (Zimmermann), his wife Anna Margaretha, and children (Johann Heinrich, age 8; Maria Barbara, age ¼) are recorded on the 1767 census of Rothammel in Household No. 25. They had settled in Rothammel on 6 September 1767.

In 1788, widower Johannes Hartmann and his son Sebastian moved from Rothammel to Semenovka.

Hartmann (Köhler)

Johann Hartmann, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the pink Cargo under the command of Lieutenant Moses Davydov.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Köhler on 21 August 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 83 married to Anna Maria Burgardt.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Hartmann came from the German region of Bamberg while the 1767 census records that he came from the German region of Geratshofen.

Hartmann (Dinkel)*

Hans Hartmann, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 3 June 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the command of Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Dinkel on 27 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No.37.

The 1767 census records that he came from the town of Bulwitz in Sweden. This is believed to be Ballwitz which at the time was located in Swedish Pomerania.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Hartmann family among the Volga German colonies.

Hansen (Mariental)

Peter Hansen, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 16 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 25.

The 1767 census records that Peter Hanses came from the German village of Geske near Köln.

One 1798 census translation erroneously records this surname as Ganz.
